About Us
Peace Girl emerged as an idea after many years of working with former child soldiers and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in Uganda and Rwanda. It is supported by Atheletes for Africa and Givemeaning.com.
Despite the fact that we have much more knowledge about the plight of girls and young women in conflict zones, and despite the fact that global policies have advanced significantly over the past decade, their situation is as grave as it has ever been. We want to break from traditional approaches that views girls and women as victims in these circumstances and stop and listen to what they have to tell us about their survival. We seek to learn from survivors and introduce their stories to audiences who are also willing to listen.

KETTY ANYEKO
Ketty Anyeko lives in Gulu and works with a network of young women who were formerly abducted and lived in captivity of the rebel group, the Lords Resistance Army.
